The web and what its for

Well, I am here to tell a story and give an opinion. Its about something that happened to me in church a couple of months ago, something that upset me in a way. I'll keep this short by saying there was a magician there who was using magic to illustrate the acts of Jesus and so forth, and then towards the end of his show he made mention about the internet, facebook and myspace, how the internet was a tool of the Devil and was evil. Now I am not one to go around thumping the bible and judging people, but this really stuck in my craw how he was acting about the internet, and I wound up standing up and letting the congregation know exactly how I felt about what he was saying. That the one thing God gives us all is free will, the will to choose.
That being said, I told the congregation, and the rather infuriating magician that just because there is a stone on the ground, or a hammer in a toolbox, doesnt make these things evil. Its what is done with them. You can paint the stone pretty colors and put it in your garden, or bash someones head in with it. Same with the hammer, you can build a house with it...or club someone to death. That doesnt make it evil. And the internet is no more evil than the people who are using it. It's what we do with it that matters, that can make it bad or good, not the internet in itself. Granted you can't type "Snow White" into google without it pulling up several dozen smut pages, but thats all about parental controls. Again...its technology, its not good or evil, it simply just IS. Now that being said, I believe we will have just about eliminated the need for paper and pens in the next ten years, or to the point where they are used even less than they are now. But again, like all statements ill make in this blog...this is my opinion. Enjoy!
